Milford, CT - Pioneer freshman forward Bear Trapp (Regina, SK) was named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week Monday.
Trapp had the most productive weekend of his young career in his first stint on the Pioneers top line. He tallied four points over two games against American International, including two game winning goals. Friday night he scored what turned out to be the game winning goal in Sacred Heart's 6-4 win over AIC. The goal was Trapp's second of the season and the first game winner of his career. Saturday night Trapp had one goal and two assists in the Pioneers 8-1 throttling of AIC. He assisted on the Pioneers first goal and scored the second goal, which turned out to be the game winner. For the season, Trapp now has three goals and four assists, for a total of seven points, tying him for second on the team.
Trapp and the Pioneers hit the road this weekend for an early season showdown with defending Atlantic Hockey champion Mercyhurst. First place in the conference will be on the line when the Pioneers and Lakers meet Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
