Fairfield, CT - Senior Pierre-Luc O'Brien (Nicolet, QC) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for the week of November 6th-November 12th. This is the second straight week that O'Brien has been named the league's top player.
O'Brien continued his outstanding play of late, tallying nine total points, three goals and six assists, in the Pioneers win over AIC and weekend sweep of Holy Cross. O'Brien posted a goal and two assists in each of the three games. He figured on nine of SHU's 14 goals for the week. His goals included a shorthanded marker on Friday night and the game winner on Saturday night in Worcester. He assisted on the game winning goals Tuesday and Friday night, and provided the helper on the Pioneer's third and fourth goals Saturday night. He also assisted on an empty netter Friday that sealed the SHU victory. O'Brien now has 17 points in his last five games (8 goals and 9 assists), bringing his point total up to a team leading 19 on the season, with 9 goals and 10 assists.
O'Brien and the Pioneers return to the ice Friday night when they visit RPI in non-conference action. Face-off at the Houston Fieldhouse in Troy, NY is set for 7:00 pm.
