Fairfield, CT - The Pioneers men's ice hockey team will face the Yellow Jackets of AIC this weekend in a home-and-home set. The teams play Friday night in Sprinfield, MA and then come back down I-91 to play Saturday at 5:00 pm in Milford. Sacred Heart is coming off a loss and a tie against Bentley, losing three of a possible four points. The Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of games to visiting Mercyhurst last weekend. They are still seeking their first win of the season.
The Pioneers and Yellow Jackets played three times last year, with Sacred Heart winning two out of the three games. Rocco Molinaro and Chris Connerty each scored two goals in the three games. The Yellow Jackets win, which ended a nine game winless streak against SHU, came on February 19th in Springfield. Jeff Valdes scored two goals to propel AIC to the victory. Sacred Heart leads the all-time series 11-8-3.
