Pioneers Visit AIC Tuesday Night in AHA Action

Nov. 6, 2006

The Game... The Pioneers and Yellow Jackets meet for the first of two games this year in a mid-week special at the Olympia Ice Center. Sacred Heart is coming off a weekend sweep of Mercyhurst, including an improbable comeback in Saturday's game. AIC was swept in a pair of games with Army over the weekend at the Olympia. Face-off is 7:00 pm.

The Series... Sacred Heart won the season series from AIC 3-0-1 last year. The Pioneers swept a pair of games in November and then won another in Milford in February. The next day, the two teams skated to a 2-2 tie in Springfield. Sacred Heart owns the all-time series edge over AIC 14-8-4.

Last Time Out.... The Pioneers made an early season statement, sweeping preseason favorite Mercyhurst in a two game series over the weekend at the Milford Ice Pavilion. The Pioneers won 6-4 Friday night and then used a major comeback to win 5-4 in overtime Saturday. In Saturday's game, the Pioneers scored four goals in the final four minutes to tie it and then Alexandre Parent scored the game winner in overtime. Pierre-Luc O'Brien, who had five goals and three assists on the weekend, had a hat trick in the comeback, including the game tying marker with 13 seconds left in overtime. The victory was the first time the Pioneers had staged a third period comeback since winning at Army on Feb 8, 2005.
