The 2006-07 Pioneer squad is led by senior captain Pierre-Luc O'Brien who is on pace to become the most decorated offensive player in Sacred Heart history. He finished last season with 19 goals and a single season record 31 assists for a school record 50 points. His play earned him All-Atlantic Hockey honors.

Joining O'Brien on the top Pioneer line are junior Alexandre Parent and sophomore Bear Trapp. Together the trio formed one of the most dangerous lines in the league. Trapp took the nation by storm, with a phenomenal rookie season. He scored 16 goals and added 27 assists, finishing with 47 points and earning Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Year honors.

Parent, who will serve as an assistant captain for the Pioneers this year, did a lot of the dirty work for the line, including playing the point on the power play. He finished the year with 38 points, including 11 goals and 27 helpers.

In addition to their top offensive line, the Pioneers welcome back their top goaltender as well as Jason Smith returns for his senior season, and second as the Pioneers number one option in net. Smith posted an 18-11-1 record with a 2.24 goals against average in 2005-2006, the best average in Atlantic Hockey. He also has a .927 save percentage. Those numbers placed him 13th in the country in goals against and 8th in the nation in save percentage. His 18 wins are the most in a single season by any Pioneer goaltender in Sacred Heart history.

Following the exhibition game, the Pioneers open the regular season against UMass on Friday October 13th.
