Sept. 29, 2005

Fairfield, CT - Former Pioneer forward Barclay Folk (West Bank, BC) has signed a contract with the Turnhout Whitecaps of Belgium.

Folk, a four year member of the Pioneer varsity team, played in 113 games during his career. He tallied 13 goals and 23 assists during that span.

Folk graduated from Sacred Heart in May with a degree in business. Prior to his becoming a Pioneer, he played for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey Junior League.

Folk is the third Pioneer to have signed professionally in the last month. Former goaltender Kevin LaPointe (Quebec City, Quebec) was in the Detroit Red Wings organization, and will play with Muskegon of the United Hockey League. Also, Eddy Ferhi (Charenton, France), another former Sacred Heart netminder, signed to play in France.
