Ferraro, Spencer Ink Hockey Deals in Wheeling

Fairfield, CT - Former Pioneer hockey players Peter Ferraro (Pleasantville, NY) and Todd Spencer (Brentwood, NH) have signed contracts to play the upcoming season with the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). Both players graduated from Sacred Heart last May.

Ferraro was a consistent offensive contributor and a high energy player for Sacred Heart during his four year carreer. He notched his highest point total during his senior season with the Pioneers scoring 15 points (5g, 10a) in 36 games. During his collegiate career, he tallied 44 points (21g, 23a) in 127 games.

"Peter is a very determined young player," said Nailers President Jim Brooks. "He will definitely add some intensity to our team."

Spencer was best known for his hard-hitting style of play. The defensemen was one of the most physical players on the Pioneer team and in all of Atlantic Hockey. In his four year career he piled up 21 points, scoring one goal and adding 20 assists.

Wheeling is the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
