SHU's Marchesi to Participate in Atlanta Thrashers' Training Camp

Fairfield, CT - Former Sacred Heart defenseman Scott Marchesi (South Portland, ME) has been invited to participate in the Atlanta Thrashers' training camp. The team will begin practice this Saturday, September 20 at the team's practice facility in Duluth, GA.

Marchesi played with the Gwinett Gladiators, Atlanta ECHL affiliate at the end of the 2008-09 season. He was part of Atlanta's prospect camp last weekend in Traverse City, MI before officially being invited to the team's main camp.

In his four seasons with the Pioneers, Marchesi played in 138 games tallying 51 points on 14 goals and 37 assists. In the 2007-08 season, Marchesi played in 38 games tallying 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points while compiling a +5 plus/minus rating and 62 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2-inch defensemen also finished third among Pioneer defensemen in scoring. He was a two time All-Atlantic Hockey selection and an assistant captain during his junior and senior seasons.
