Men's Ice Hockey Announces 2003-04 Captains

Pioneers Head Coach Shaun Hannah announced that senior forward Chuck Metcalfe was selected as the 2003-04 captain of the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team. It was also announced that senior forward Marc-Andre Fournier and senior defenseman Konn Hawkes will serve as the assistant captains for the upcoming season.

Metcalfe has registered 18 goals and 37 assists for 55 points and was twice named to the MAAC All-Acedemic Team in his first three seasons with the Pioneers. Metcalfe has played in each of the 100 games he has been eligible for and should he play in every game this season he would become the schools record holder for career games played.

Fournier has scored 33 goals with 32 assists for 65 points during his three seasons with the Pioneers. Fournier has also been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team the past two seasons.

Hawkes is entering his fifth season with the Pioneers. In 98 games played he has nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points. Hawkes missed all of the 2000-01 season due to injury.

The men's ice hockey team will open the 2003-04 season with their annual Red and White Game on Saturday, October 4 at 8:00 PM at the Milford Ice Pavilion. The team will open its regular season on October 10 against Merrimack.
