Former SHU Hockey Players Win French Championship

Fairfield, CT - Former Pioneer hockey players Martin Paquet and Eddy Ferhi recently helped Grenoble win the French Elite league Championship. The two former SHU standouts played key roles in helping their team to the title.

Grenoble defeated Mopzine three games to one in the championship series. Paquet registered two goals and an assist in the series. Ferhi was the winning goaltender in each game.

Paquet had nine goals and six assists in 36 games during the season. Ferhi was the number one goaltender for Grenoble, starting 36 games and posting a 2.25 goals against average.

Both players graduated from Sacred Heart in the spring of 2003. Ferhi holds the school record for best goals against average in a career at 2.63. Until this year, Paquet held the school records for most points and goals scored in a career. He is now second in each category, having amassed 142 points and 65 goals in his four year career with the Pioneers.
