Three Pioneers Garner All-AHA Honors

Rochester, NY - Senior Alexandre Parent (Boisbriand, QC) was named First Team All-Atlantic Hockey and senior Scott Marchesi (South Portland, ME) and junior Bear Trapp (Balcarres, SK) garnered second team All-league honors as the Atlantic Hockey Association passed out its regular season awards Thursday night on the eve of the AHA Final Five in Rochester, NY.

Parent leads the Pioneers in scoring this year with 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points on the year. Parent, who was an All-Rookie selection as a freshman in 2005 and second team All-league pick in 2006, has 87 career assists putting him second in SHU history. He also has 141 career points, good for third place in school history. Parent is fifth in the league in scoring and tied for fourth in goals. The captain had a 17 game point scoring streak snapped last weekend and has tallied nine straight multi-point weekends.

In addition to his first team selection, Parent also won the Turfer Individual Sportsmanship Award for his outstanding conduct on the ice.

Trapp became the first Pioneer to record six points in a game when he tallied two goals and four assists against Canisius on February 1. Trapp is second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points. He is now third in the league in scoring and third in assists. His 76 career assists put him in fifth place on the all-time SHU list.

Marchesi was a first team All-Atlantic Hockey selection last season. He is an Assistant Captain for the Pioneers this year. Marchesi has two goals and nine assists, for 11 points on the season.

The Pioneers will face Mercyhurst in the AHA final five game Friday night at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY. Face-off is set for 7:05 pm.
