Men's Ice Hockey Game Notes: Sacred Heart gets ready for Atlantic Hockey Tournament

FAIRFIELD, CT (March 11) - The Pioneers enter the first round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament against Holy Cross looking for their second road win of the season against the Crusaders in their own building. In the only game played between the two teams earlier in the year, SHU used two goals in the first and second period and an empty net goal to defeat Holy Cross 5-3. The on the season SHU is 2-1-0 against Holy Cross with the lone defeat coming at the Milford Ice Pavilion in overtime.

Sacred Heart saw their chances of hosting at least one game in the playoffs evaporate last weekend when the Mercyhurst Lakers swept the Pioneers in Erie, PA. Mercyhurst blitzed the Pioneers in the first game, winning 6-1, before rallying from one goal down in the third period in the second game, to come away victorious 4-2.

All Pioneer ice hockey tournament games will be broadcast live on WHRT 91.5 FM. Jeff Holtz, the voice of Pioneer athletics, will call the play-by-play and Henry Gargiulo will provide the color analysis.
