Men's Ice Hockey Freshman Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien Named Sacred Heart Athlete-of-the-Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (February 9, 2004) - Sacred Heart men's ice hockey freshman forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien was named Sacred Heart Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending February 8th for his performance over the weekend as the Pioneers swept Mercyhurst.

The Nicolet, QC native scored the game-winning goal on Friday night and followed that with a two goal, one assist performance on Saturday, giving him three goals and one assist on the weekend. He is now tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points with senior Mike Reagan (Flin Flon, MB). He ranks second among Atlantic Hockey rookies and 14th overall in the conference with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points, and average of 0.88 points per conference game. He ranks 17th among all Division-I rookies with a 0.72 points per game average.

O'Brien and the rest of the Pioneers will return to the ice when they take on American International in a weekend home and home series. Fridays game is at AIC at 7:00 pm and Saturdays game will face off at 5:00 pm from the Milford Ice Pavilion.
