Sacred Heart Takes Down Holy Cross, 5-4

The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team earned a series split with a 5-4 victory over Holy Cross Saturday night in Worcester, MA. Senior Erik Boisvert (Drummondville, QC) lit the lamp twice for the Pioneers and netted the game winning empty net goal late in the third period. Reid MacLeod (Teulon, MB) netted his first career goal early in the third period to give SHU a lead they woud hold the rest of the way. Steven Legatto (Kelowna, BC) had a superb night in goal stopping 37 shots in the win. [+]
11/6/2009 - M. Ice HockeySacred Heart Tripped Up By Holy Cross, 4-2The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team fell to Holy Cross 4-2 in Atlantic Hockey action Friday night at the Milford Ice Pavilion. Patrick Knowlton (Colorado Springs, CO) led the SHU attack posting a goal and an assist. Jay Silvia lit the lamp twice for the Crusaders and scored the goal that would prove to be the game winner. Freshman goaltender Steven Legatto (Kelowna, BC) made 30 saves in the first loss of his career. [+] |

Ice HockeyPioneers and Holy Cross Set for Weekend MeetingSacred Heart opens the first of six straight conference match-ups as they take on Holy Cross in a home and home series this weekend. The two teams will play in Milford, CT at the Milford Ice Pavilion Friday night before heading north to play in Worcester, MA Saturday. The Pioneers are coming off of a 1-1-1 week in which they opened AHA play with a 5-3 win over AIC. SHU then earned a 3-3 draw in the series finale last weekend against St. Lawrence. The Crusaders will look to rebound from a tough series in which they earned just one point in two games against AIC. [+] |

Ice HockeyThree Third Period Goals Earn Pioneers 3-3 Tie at St. LawrenceSacred Heart lit the lamp three times in the final period as the Pioneers skated to a 3-3 draw at St. Lawrence Saturday night. Paul Ferarro (Pleasantville, NY) and Erik Boisvert (Drummondville, QC) engineered the comeback each notching a goal and two assists while the Saints pulled the game even with just 1:33 remaining in regulation.
