Men's Ice Hockey Edges RIT, 5-4

The Pioneers used two goals from Paul Ferraro (Pleasantville, NY) and three points from both Patrick Knowlton (Colorado Springs, CO) and Nick Johnson (Windsor, CT) to earn a 5-4 victory over RIT Saturday afternoon as well as a series split with the Tigers. Steven Legatto (Kelowna, BC) made 27 saves for the day, but made several tremendous stops in the closing minutes to preserve the one goal win for SHU. [+]

Ice HockeyStreak Snapped: Power Play Stalls Out In 5-2 Loss To RITThe Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team was held to 1-for-11 on the power play as the RIT Tigers upended the Pioneers 5-2 Friday night at the Milford Ice Pavilion. to end SHU's 12 game unbeaten streak. Matt Gingera (Winnipeg, MB) and Erik Boisvert (Drummondville, QC) each scored for the Pioneers in the loss. Last weekend Sacred Heart edged out a pair of one goal victories, including an overtime win Friday night, on the road against UConn. Ice HockeyNick Johnson Earns National College Hockey Player of the MonthSenior forward Nick Johnson (Windsor, CT) is the Hockey Commissioners' Association National Division I Player of the Month for January. Johnson registered 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points and posted a +12 rating to lead the Pioneers to a 9-0-2 record.
