Niagara Uses Three Goal Third to Top SHU, 4-2

Niagare, NY - Les Reaney scored the game winning goal with 1:51 left in the third period and Scott Langdon added a goal and two assists as Niagara used three third period goals to post a 4-2 win over Sacred Heart in men's ice hockey action Friday at Dwyer Arena. The Purple Eagles have are now unbeaten in 21 straight games on home ice.
Freshman Adam DeJong (Kitchener, ON) was the star of the Pioneers offense, scoring his first two collegiate goals. He got SHU on the board first with a tally at the 6:31 left in the first period. Freshman Reade Wolansky (St. Albert, AB) assisted. However, Niagara tied the game just two minutes later with a 5-on-3 power play goal by Chris Moran.
Dejong put the Pioneers ahead again with 3:29 left in the second period. Sophomores Erik Boisvert (Drummondville, QC) and Nick Johnson (Windsor, ON) got the assists to put the Pioneers in the lead going into the final period.
Langdon got the big third period started for Niagara just 1:58 in with an extra attacker goal. He then helped set up Reaney's game winner and an empty-netter by Kyle Rodgers which sealed the game for Niagara.
Junior Stefan Drew (Oakbank, MB) made 25 saves in goal for the Pioneers. Juliano Pagliero stopped 29 shots, including 18 in the second period, to earn the victory for the Purple Eagles.
Sacred Heart and Niagara wrap-up their series Saturday night at Dwyer Arena. Face-off is set for 7:00 pm.
