West Point, NY - Senior Owen Meyer had two goals and two assists and Cody Omilusik added a goal and an assist to lead Army to a 6-3 victory in Atlantic Hockey action Friday night at Tate Rink.
Meyer got the Black Knights started 8:36 into the game as he finished off a two-on-one break with Cody Omilusik. Omilusik carried the puck down the left side and dished it through the goal mouth to a charging Meyer who redirected it past a sliding Stefan Drew for the first score of the game. With less than two minutes left in the first Meyer led a break down the ice and dropped the puck back to Matt Hickey who snapped a shot into the top of the net to give Army a two goal lead after the first period.
The Pioneers got on the board 2:24 into the second period when freshman Chris Brown scored his first career goal. With SHU on the power play, Adam DeJong carried the puck deep into the zone and sent a puck through the goalmouth where a charging Brown one-timed it into an open left corner, past a sliding Jay Clark.
Army reopened a two goal lead seven minutes into the middle stanza. Michael Alvarez sent the puck into the zone and it took a hard carom off the boards and bounced back into the slot where a wide open Meyer picked it up and snapped a shot over the shoulder of Drew to make it 3-1.
The Black Knights blew the game open with three goals in a two minute window midway through the second period. With 8:34 left in the second, Joey Ammon picked up a loose puck in the Pioneer zone and fired a shot up into the top of the net. Less than a minute later, Omilusik took a pass from Meyer in the slot and drilled a shot past Drew for a power play goal. Kyle Maggar scored his first goal of the year 18 seconds later to make it 6-1.

Eight minutes into the period, DeJong took a pass from Dave Jarman and blasted a shot from the top of the face-off circle that beat Clark. With 8:35 left, senior Bear Trapp scored his first goal of the year on a slap-shot from the left side to cut the deficit to 6-3.
