After joing the Pioneer coaching staff in December of 2009, Scott McDougall begins his fifth season as and assistant coach at SHU. McDougall joined the staff just as the Pioneers began a program-record setting 12-game unbeaten streak. Before coming to SHU, McDougall spent two years on the coaching staff at Wesleyan as both an assistant and graduate assistant coach. McDougall's duties at Sacred Heart primarily consist of working with the team's forwards and recruiting.
McDougall is a 2007 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he was a four-year member of the men's ice hockey team. McDougall registered 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 career points while playing in 89 contests as a forward for Huskies. He has also been active as a camp and club team counselor, instructor, and coach over the last seven years. McDougall has worked with the Massachusetts Player Development Camp handling 13-15 year olds and the Connecticut Hockey Experience with 13-18 year-old players. Before joining the Pioneers, McDougall was the head coach of the Neponset Valley River Rats Under-18 team of the Massachusetts Select League for 5 seasons.
