Godbout Scores First Career Goal While SHU Falls 4-1 to Army

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team fell to Army West Point in the final day of the home at home series by a final score of 4-1. The team returns to action on Friday Nov. 16 when the Pioneers will host Mercyhurst at 7:05 p.m. The team acknowledged head coach CJ Marottolo prior to the start of today's game as he earned his 100thcareer victory on Friday night as the team defeated Army the night before. 

The Black Knights would get on the board first as Dominic Franco would find the back of the net while on the powerplay to give Army an early 1-0 at 5:19. Franco would then score again for his second goal of the game to strengthen the Black Knights lead to 2-0 in the final seconds of the first period at 19:54. While SHU outshot Army in the first period 11 to eight, the score would remain 2-1 after one in favor of Army. 

The Pioneers would be able to narrow the Black Knights lead in the second period as sophomore Marcel Godbout would score his first collegiate goal at 11:34 to make the score 2-1. Both defenses would hold strong as neither team would allow another goal in the period to send the game into the final period of regulation with the score 2-1 in favor of Army. 

Army would be the only team to score in the final period as Zach Evancho and Tipper Higgins would each find the back of the net for Black Knights to give them the 4-1 victory over SHU. Army improves to 5-5-1 overall while 4-3-1 in Atlantic Hockey play while SHU falls to 2-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Atlantic Hockey play.
