FAIRFIELD, Conn. (April 1, 2009) - Sacred Heart senior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) was named the Northeast Conference Men's Golfer of the Week announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Fillian took home medalist honors for the second time this season after carding a 139 (-5) at the 4th Annual Monmouth Hawk Invitational in Lakewood, NJ on Mar. 28-29. The senior shot a two-under 70 on day one and followed with a second-round three-under 69 to win the tournament by six strokes, besting a field of 59 golfers. Fillian's outing helped the Pioneers secure the team title by one stroke (302-288=590) over Lafayette on the par 72, 6,886 yard Eagle Ridge Golf Club course. The individual title marks the first since Fillian captured a share of The McLaughlin this past fall. This is the seventh NEC Golfer of the Week award of Fillian's Pioneer career.
