CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (October 13, 2007) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team are in fifth place after the first round of action at the 2007 ECAC Division I Championship Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers shot a 301 after their first 18-holes, five strokes behind Rhode Island for fourth.

The Pioneers were led by senior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) and sophomore Adam Petrasovic (Tecumseh, Ontario), both tied for 8th overall at the two-day event. The duo shot matching 72's on Saturday, one-over at the par 72, 7,006 yard course.

Junior Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) shot a 78 on Saturday, putting him tied for 34th at the event.

The Binghamton Bearcats were the day one leader, coming into the clubhouse with a 283 team score, +1 for the day and 10 strokes better then St. Bonaventure in second. UConn sits in third after shooting 294.

The final round takes place on Sunday at the Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charleston, RI.
