Yale MacDonald Cup Day 1 Results

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 6, 2007) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team shot a round one 309 to sit tied for 16th in the 26 team Yale MacDonald Cup field. Round two is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Yale University Golf Course.

The Pioneers were led by sophomore Adam Petrasovic (Tecumseh, Ontario) who shot a day-one score of 74 on the par-71, 6,749 yard course. Petrasovic fired a 38 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine. Petrasovic enters the final day tied for 19th overall.

Junior Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) was two strokes behind his teammate with a 76 (38-38) on his 18-holes, leaving him tied in 42nd overall. Junior Kevin Lauretti (Newington, CT) shot a 78 (38-40), tied for 67th overall.

The Macdonald cup is named after Yale Golf Course designer Charles Blair Macdonald. The course first opened in 1926.

Play concludes tomorrow with the first golfers teeing off at 7:30 a.m.
