CHAMPIONSGATE, FL (May 2, 2010) - The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished just one stroke back of Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) after the final round of play at the 2010 Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship at the ChampionsGate Golf Club. The Pioneers completed the three day tournament with an overall score of 911, and shot 305 in today's final round.
SHU trailed Robert Morris by two strokes heading into today, but the Colonials shot 22 over par for the round to fall back into third place. The Red Flash scored their best round of the weekend, 302, to move from third, after day two, into first.
Freshman Joshua Salah (Gloucester, MA) held a two stroke lead after the second round. He finished tied for fifth overall with a weekend-high 80 for the final round. For the weekend, he shot 224 (71-73-80) in three rounds of play.
Sophomore Joseph Serrentino (Cromwell. CT) tied his best round of the weekend today, with a birdie on the par five 18th to shoot a 73, and finish in a three-way tie for seventh at 225 (79-73-73).
Robert Cerabone, of Fairleigh Dickinson, entered the final round two strokes back of Salah. He shot an even par 72 on the 6,937 yard course to finish at the top of the leader board.
