PORTSMITH, R.I. (April 27, 2007) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team, winners of their last two tournaments, hold the lead after first round play of the Northeast Invitational at the Green Valley Country Club. Friday's first round was shortened to nine holes due to the rain with the Pioneers in front of an 11 team field with a score of 150.

SHU holds a one-stroke lead over Quinnipiac in second on the par 71, 6,830 yard course. Round two will consist of 18 holes and tee off Saturday morning at 10:30 am.

Sophomore Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) is tied for fifth after day one, shooting a +1 36 on the nine hole course. Fellow sophomore Kevin Lauretti (Newington, CT) is tied for seventh after shooting a 37 (+2). Junior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) is tied for 12th with a 38 (+3).
