PORTSMOUTH, RI (April 24, 2004) - The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished in 15th place Rhode Island Newport Invitational at Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. John Molchan (Wallingford, CT) led the team with a 165 for the weekend.

Rob Thurston (Newton, MA) shot 169 while teammate Dustin Ledda (Torrington, MA) finished close behind with a 170. Al Ruggiero (Sudbury, MA) shot a 171 and Mike Giaquinto (Fairfield, CT) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers with a 175.

Molchan had the low round on the weekend for SHU, shooting a +9 (80) on Sunday. Sacred Heart improved nine strokes from round one.

The Pioneers will next compete for the Northeast Conference Championship on May 3-4 at The Architects Golf Club in Lopatcong, NJ.
