Providence, RI (April 19, 2004) - The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished tenth out of 14 team at the NEIGA Championship held at Triggs Memorial Golf Club in Providence, RI. The Pioneers improved seven strokes on the second day, shooting a 323 as a team for a two-day total of 653.

Senior Dustin Ledda (Torrington, CT) led the team as he tied for a 36th place finish, shooting a 159 (79, 80) for the weekend. Sophomore John Molchan (Wallingford, CT) improved four shots on the second day of the Championship and finished just one shot back of Ledda with a 180 (82, 78), which tied him for 39th overall.

Junior Kevin Gordon (Floral Park, NY) showed the most improvement on the second day as he shaved ten strokes off his opening day round and shot a 78 on the day. He shot a 166 overall. Freshman Rob Thurston (Newtown, MA) and junior Mike Giaquinto (Fairfield, CT) also competed at the Championship for the Pioneers.

Sacred Heart will next compete at the Rhode Island Spring Invitational this coming weekend on April 23-24 in Portsmouth, RI.
