Complete Hawk Invitational Women's Results

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 3, 2006) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished fifth at the inaugural Monmouth Hawk Invitational Monday afternoon, wrapping up play in their first event of the spring. The SHU women finished seventh in the event that took place at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

For the men, sophomore Tom Campbell (Wall, NJ) topped his day one score of 78 by firing a 75 on the 6,746 yard, par 71 course Monday morning. Campbell finished tied for fourth overall with a two day score of 153 (78-75), seven strokes off the individual champion, Matt Gowdy of St. Francis-PA.

The Red Flash took home the team title with a score of 614 followed by Bucknell (620), Quinnipiac (621) and host Monmouth (630). SHU came in fifth at 633 in the 10 team field.

Freshman Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) and junior Ryan Leahey, competiting in his first event for the Pioneers, tied for 17th overall with matching 160's. Belizze shot an 81 on day one followed by a 79 on day two. Leahey shot 84 on Sunday and knocked off eight strokes on Monday to shoot a 76.

For the women, freshman Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) was the Pioneers top golfer shooting a two-day score of 163 (81-83). She finished tied for sixth overall.

Long Island took home the team title with a score of 657.

The Pioneer men will return to action this weekend at the Yale Spring Invitational. The women will take part in the Hartford Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, April 10th and 11th.
