Ballo Tied For Fifth Among Individuals After First Round of NCAA Regional
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) shot a two-over 74 in his opening round at the NCAA Men's Golf San Antonio Regional at Briggs Ranch Golf Club on Thursday, putting himself tied for fifth among the individuals in the regional.
Ballo bogeyed one of the first six holes he played on Thursday. He finished off the front nine with bogeys on holes seven and nine to go three-over and out in 39. Ballo got back on track on the back nine. He birdied the par-5 11th and par-4 16th to get to one-over for the round. Ballo finished his round with a bogey on 18 to finish with a two-over 74 in his opening round.
Arizona's Erik Oja was the top individual on Thursday with a one-under 71. Preston Stanley of Houston Baptist's carded an even par 72 as Texas State's Stuart Smallwood and Army's Peter Kim shot 73. Martin Simonsen of UTEP and Grant Forrest of San Diego also had 74s on Thursday.
Ballo will tee off his second round on Friday at 10:50 a.m.
