Peter Ballo To Play In NCAA Men’s Golf Regional In San Antonio

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart men's golfer Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) has been selected to play in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee announced late Sunday night.

Ballo is one of 10 individual golfers selected to play in the regional at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas May 15-17. The redshirt-junior won medalist honors on Sunday at the Northeast Conference Championship last weekend, taking the tournament title in a playoff. It was Ballo's third consecutive medalist showing, having won the individual titles at the Rhody Invitational and the New England Championships.

The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from the six regionals will advance to the finals May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. Ballo is the second Sacred Heart golfer in three years to reach the NCAA Championships. Leo Garcia played in the 2012 Regional in Greensboro, N.C. after winning the Northeast Conference title that year.
