HAMDEN, Conn. – Sacred Heart men's golfer Pete Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) reached the final match of the 111th Connecticut Amateur Championship last week, held at New Haven Country Club. Ballo reached the final 36-hole match but fell 3 and 1.
Ballo was +2 through two rounds of stroke play, putting him tied for fourth and in the group of 32 for match play. In the round of 32, the redshirt-junior needed 19 holes to defeat Gregory Palmer. He also needed 19 holes to win his round of 16 match. After winning his quarterfinal match 1-up, Ballo won his semifinal 3 and 2.
Ballo was a Second-Team All-NEC selection this past spring, leading the Pioneers with four top-five finishes.
