Sacred Heart Football Program Adds Five More Players for 2008

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 11, 2008) - Sacred Heart University head football coach Paul Gorham announced the signing of five more student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2008 season bringing the size of this year's recruiting class to 21 players. Coach Gorham and his staff will welcome Groton, Connecticut native Robert Shepard (Groton, CT / Fitch H.S.) along with Cody Eyres (Mission Viejo, CA / Trabuco Hills M.S.), Tyler Foehr (Florence, NJ / Florence H.S.), Will Martin (Port Republic, NJ) and Dylan Larson (Barnegat, NJ / Southern Regional H.S.).
Robert Shepherd (Groton, CT) - Kicker / Punter - Fitch H.S. Shepherd, 6'1", 180 pounds, was a two-time Connecticut All-State punter and kicker for the Fitch High School Falcons. In 2007, he averaged 41.43 yards on 21 punts and converted 31 PAT's while also hitting on two of four field goal attempts. For his career, Shepherd connected on 91 PAT's and 10 field goals with a career long of 42 yards. Shepherd was an all-ECC selection and a member of The Day and Norwich Bulletin All-Area teams the last two seasons.
Cody Eyres (Mission Viejo, CA) - Defensive Line - Trabuco Hills H.S. Eyres is a 6'0", 300 pound defensive lineman out of Trabuco Hills High School and Mission Viejo, CA where he played with fellow signee, linebacker Chris Mandas. Eyres was awarded first team All-Southwestern CIF honors as a junior and senior. The all-league nose guard helped guide his team to the conference championship in 2007. He was named his team's Defensive Most Valuable player as a senior.
Tyler Foehr (Florence, NJ) - Defensive Line - Florence, H.S. Foehr is a 6'4" defensive lineman from Florence High School. Named a team captain as a senior, Foehr was named a first team all-conference defensive lineman. He also picked up second team all-area honors for southern New Jersey.
Will Martin (Port Republic, NJ) - Offensive Line - Holy Spirit H.S. A team captain, Martin comes to Sacred Heart from Holy Spirit High School. Martin, a 6'3", 295 pound offensive lineman, was named to the All-Cape Atlantic League and All-South Jersey first teams. He was also chosen as an Associated Press All-State lineman and was selected to play in the NY / NJ All-Star game as a senior.
Dylan Larson (Barnegat Light, NJ) - Offensive Line - Southern Regional H.S. Larson is a 6'3", 275 pound offensive lineman from Southern Regional High School. Larson was selected an all-county, all-division and all-shore first team lineman last season. The Atlantic City Press named the team captain to their first team this fall.
