Sacred Heart Football Gets 16 Commitments on National Signing Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 3, 2010) – Sacred Heart University head football coach Paul Gorham announced the signing of 14 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent as well as receiving commitments from two other student-athletes for the 2010 season. This year’s recruiting class includes players from the states of California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.

2010 Sacred Heart Football – National Letters of Intent

Alex Aitkens (Wood Ridge, New Jersey) -- St. Joseph Regional High School -- Defensive Back -- 6-0/190

Defensive back Alex Aitkens helped guide the St. Joseph Regional High School football team to back-to-back State Championships. As a senior, he earned first team All-Conference and All-County honors after recording 90 tackles with four interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

Robert Dim (Sicklerville, New Jersey) -- Washington Township High School -- Wide Receiver -- 6-1/190

Wide receiver Robert Dim was named the Washington Township High School football team 2009 Offensive Most Valuable Player. Dim was an All-County and All-Conference first team pick last fall while leading South Jersey in touchdown receptions while averaging 14.3 yards per catch.

Mike Geraghty (Falling Waters, West Virginia) -- Valley Forge Military Academy & College -- Defensive End / Tight End -- 6-6/255

Mike Geraghty joins the Pioneers after playing defensive end and tight end at Valley Forge Military Academy & College. Geraghty was named to the 2008 All-Seaboard Conference All-Star second team as a tight end. This past fall he was named an All-Seaboard Conference All-Star first teamer at defensive end.

Zach Greenwald (Gibbstown, New Jersey) -- Paulsboro High School -- Linebacker -- 6-2/225 

A three-time team captain, linebacker Zach Greenwald finished his career at Paulsboro High School as the school’s all-time leading tackler. He named All-Conference four times and was a three-time All-County and All-South Jersey Group 1 honoree. Greenwald was named the 2009 South Jersey Touchdown Club Player of the Year as well as the South Jersey Athlete of the Year. He also competes in wrestling where he is a three time district and regional champion and is currently ranked 13th nationally at the 215 lb weight class.

Casey Hippert (Douglas, Massachusetts) -- Northbridge High School -- Tight End -- 6-3/230 Tight End

Casey Hippert was a first team All-League player for North Bridge High School. He was named to the ELITE Top-26 All-State as well as earning Worcester Telegram and Gazette Super Team honors after his junior and senior seasons. Dave Fasolino (Marcy, New York) -- Whitesboro High School -- Linebacker -- 6-1/215 Linebacker Dave Fasolio comes to Sacred Heart from Whitesboro High School. He was an All-League first team player as a senior as well as earning All-Central New York second team honors from his linebacker position.

Jamie Martinez (Brooklyn, New York) -- Xaverian High School -- Offensive Line -- 6-4/340

Offensive lineman Jamie Martinez was an All-Brooklyn and All-League selection and All-City second team pick as a senior. He was named the Xaverian High School Most Valuable Player and selected to play in the New York City Catholic League and Outback Bowl games.

Rickey Moore, Jr. (Springfield, Massachusetts) -- Wilbraham & Monson High School -- Wide Receiver -- 5-10/180

Wide receiver Rickey Moore, Jr. was named a team captain for the Wilbraham & Monson High School football team. He was an All-Colonial League first team selection last fall.

Brett Parenteau (Manchester, New Hampshire) -- Bridgton Academy -- Wide Receiver -- 6-2/195

Wide Receiver Brett Parenteau will join Sacred Heart from Bridgton Academy. Parenteau was an All-State player in New Hampshire at Manchester Central High School his junior and senior seasons. Parenteau also garnered first team All-League honors his junior and senior seasons.

Tino Perrina (Reading, Massachusetts) -- Reading Memorial High School -- Running Back / Defensive Back -- 6-0/195

Tino Perrina was named a team captain as running back and defensive back for Reading Memorial High School. A two-time all-conference player, Perrina was named the Boston Herald Division 2 Player of the Year. He holds his school records for touchdowns in a season (25), career rushing yards and rushing yards in a game (283). He led his team to the 2009 State Championship while playing in just six games, he rushed for 750 yards and 25 scores. During his junior season in 2008, he finished with 1,200 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns. In the classroom, he is a Boston Herald All-Scholastic student-athlete.

Ben Proulx (Hampstead, New Hampshire) -- Pinkerton Academy -- Defensive End -- 6-4/225

Defensive end Ben Proulx was voted a team captain at Pinkerton Academy where he was a two-time All-State selection. He twice led his team in sacks and tackles for losses while leading his team to a pair of State Championships. He was chosen to play in the Shrine Bowl. On the basketball court, Proulx is a three-year starter and team captain.

Justin Sexton (Murrieta, California) -- Murrieta Valley High School -- Linebacker / Long Snapper -- 6-2/210

Linebacker Justin Sexton was voted a team captain his senior season. He recorded 140 tackles with nine fumble recoveries and an interception on his way to earning All-S.W. League and All-Valley first team honors and All-CIF second team honors. Sexton was recruited by several Ivy League schools.

Steven Tellefsen (Weston, Florida) -- Cypress Bay High School -- Defensive Back -- 6-1/180

Defensive back Steven Tellefsen was a first team All-Star selection at Cypress Bay High School. Tellefsen recorded 64 solo tackles with five interceptions, a blocked punt and a touchdown. He was an All-Broward County second team selection.

C.J. Trieb (Chester, New Hampshire) -- Pinkerton Academy -- Offensive Line -- 6-5/315

Offensive lineman C.J. Trieb was a three-year starter at Pinkerton Academy where he was a two-time All-State selection. He was one of only three players from New Hampshire to be nominated for Army All-American honors. He led his team to a pair of State Championships. Trieb is also a two-year varsity letter winner on the wrestling team.

Jeff Nossek (New London, Connecticut) -- St. Bernard School -- Offensive Line / Long Snapper -- 6-2/260

Offensive Lineman Jeff Nossek was named first team All-State at St. Bernard School. Nossek also earned first team All-ECC honors.

Chris Rogers (Cazenovia, New York) -- Cazenovia High School -- Place Kicker -- 5-10/160

Place Kicker Chris Rogers was an All-League first team selection at Cazenovia High School. Rogers was named to the All-State first team as a place kicker last fall.
