FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Running back Evin Jones had 29 carries for 171 yards and one touchdown and quarterback Dale Fink threw four touchdown passes as Sacred Heart defeated Wagner, 42-20, on Friday.

Rishard Brown's 51-yard interception return, with 4:00 left in the third quarter, gave Sacred Heart (8-1, 4-1 Northeast Conference) a 35-20 lead. The cornerback was carried off the field on a stretcher after being inadvertently knocked in the head on a tackle attempt with less than a minute left in the game. He gave a thumbs-up as he was wheeled to an ambulance, and the school said his injuries were not believed to be serious though he might be hospitalized overnight for observation.

Fink (19-for-31, 136 yards, four touchdowns) threw a perfect spiral down the middle and hooked up with Tony Patterson for a 21-yard touchdown reception with 6:12 left in the third quarter. Schroeder's successful extra point extended Sacred Heart's lead to 28-20.

Wagner (3-6, 1-5 NEC) had cut Sacred Heart's lead to 21-20 on Shane Smith's touchdown and Eric Ortiz's extra point with 8:31 left in the third.

Sacred Heart pulled back ahead 42-20 on Jones' 3-yard run and Joe Schroeder's successful extra point with 2:14 left in the game.
