FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart football team won its first game of the season today, beating Iona 27-16. Here are some post-game comments from head coach Paul Gorham.

On the play of senior linebacker Rolando Garcia.... "Rolando really stood out. He was inspired all week. He met with the team and talked about the importance of the season to the seniors and then went out there and made big plays. He led by example."

On the play of quarterback Tyler Arciaga... "He was very efficient today. He didn't have any turnovers and that's the most important thing. The fact that we were plus in turnovers today was the difference in the game."

On the effect of the hot weather on the team... "It's something we really haven't had to deal with all year. During the fall camp it was fairly cool and the last two games have been cool and rainy so the heat hasn't been a factor. Today it was and it will be a good building block going forward."

On the Importance of the win going forward... "You can't really quantify it. It's important to have some results to show for all your hard work. And, with the big trip we have coming up next week it's nice to go into it on a high note."
