Game #2 - Sacred Heart vs. La Salle - September 8, 2007 Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Paul Gorham

On today' 54-14 win: "We executed well and we did what I thought we were capable of doing. We're confident in our kids and we made the other team pay."

On redshirt freshman Dale Fink's performance: "He didn't do much wrong, but my concern is that is has been too easy. He hasn't been challenged enough and I want to know how we respond when we're challenged. Then I can tell you more about my team."

On next week versus Iona: "We were full of confidence at the end of the first half, but that's when I started to worry about Iona. My mantra has been leave the last one behind and look forward to the next one. We'll be ready."

Junior Running Back Evin Jones

On the team win: "Def played really well, JJ (Wilson) stepped up. Our offensive line did a great job opening holes. It was just a great all around performance from everyone."

On the 2-0 start: "One game at a time, we got up early today but we've got to remember the game's not over, got to finish it out. Take it one week at a time."

Senior Wide Receiver Joey Henley

On starting off the season 2-0: "It's a big momentum booster, as apposed to last year."

On the play of his quarterback, Dale Fink:"He's played exceptionally well, throwing touchdowns left and right and making all the right calls. He's been great."

Redshirt-Freshman QB Dale Fink

On his confidence: "I was just about as nervous as I was for my first college game last week, but we wanted to get it going for our home crowd."

On offensive schemes: "We have to be able to run the ball to throw the ball. We need to keep defenses on their heels and the running game, which was great today, makes it easier on everyone."

On his hot start: "Two good weeks, but I still made some mistakes. I'll enjoy this until maybe Monday and then it's all about Iona from there."

On his wealth of skilled players around him: "A soothing factor. Two seniors in the backfield, three great receivers, a solid line, I can just do what I am coached to do.

On SHU's 2-0 start: "It's a confidence builder, but we still have a long way to go. 2-0 doesn't mean anything if you don't go out and perform again next week."

Senior Safety John Wilson

On defensive execution: "We had a game plan and we stuck to it. We executed the entire game."

On his 54-yard touchdown after an interception: "I know their tendencies and we knew their tendencies. I read it well and just broke on it."

Junior Linebacker Rich Marrone

On the team's defensive effort: "A great effort on the defense. All week going against the scout that was exactly what they did. We were just well prepared, the effort was there and everyone was just flying to the ball."

On SHU's 2-0 start: "A great start, but the comp gets harder and harder every week. A great start, got the ball rolling and hopefully we can keep it rolling."
