Recap |  Final Stats

Head Coach Paul Gorham

On teams 2-0 start: "We are very young and hopefully they start getting a good feeling about themselves. You have to see results from your hard work and results end up in the left hand column."

On freshman Garry Coles: "Garry had that one year of prep which helps, so I don't look at him as a true freshman. He's been away from home already and he's a Connecticut kid. He's got some ability but I wanted to make him earn it."

On his teams defensive play: "What I told the defense at the end of the game is that I am very pleased with where their conditioning is. I believe they got a little bit tired and were not able to protect as well and Billy (O'Brien) is the type of player that can run all day. We try to rotate a lot of people in and out on the defensive line. If we can keep them fresh they can make plays late."

Freshman Running Back Garry Coles

On making an impact as a freshman: "I am just glad I got the opportunity to play as a freshman. Some freshmen don't get this opportunity and when it comes you have to work hard for it."

Senior Linebacker Rich Marrone

On Saturday's defensive effort: "Anytime you look at stats and the turnover margin is big like it was, if your on the positive end your going to come out victorious. We focus on turnovers every day, we have to get at least four turnovers or we have ten up downs per turnover so we stress that a lot in practice."

On SHU's 2-0 start: "We have to make sure we stay focused and any injuries we have hopefully we can recover from them."

Sophomore Safety Mike Mortali

On stepping into the starting lineup Saturday: "I knew I had to play for Steve Young, who got hurt and I knew I had to step up and play a big game. I knew I had to know all my responsibilities."

On being 2-0: "Last year was last year, this is a new year and we have a new defense and a new senior class and we are looking to start off 3-0."
