After working as a graduate assistant coach with the University of Miami Hurricanes for three seasons, Coach Giufre returned to his northern roots last season when he joined the Pioneer staff. While in Miami, the Hurricanes won the National Championship in 2001 and finished as the runner-up in 2002. He earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Syracuse University in 2000 and was twice named to the Academic Dean's List. He played offensive guard and center for the Orangemen and participated in five post-season Bowl games. He holds a black belt in karate and is a Phase I instructor is Jeet Kune Do. He is also certified by the U.S. Olympic Weight Lifting Federation as a club coach.
