MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Sacred Heart football team severed a four-game drought owning Robert Morris, 21-14 in a road Northeast Conference thriller, Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. Khaamal Whitaker’s interception resulting in a touchdown for the Pioneers’ put the visitors in front and mounted an advantage the Colonials would fail to combat. The Pioneers level their league clip to 1-1 while the hosts have now tacked on their second loss of the conference season.

East Rutherford, NJ – Sophomore quarterback RJ Noel (Lowell, MA) was named ECAC Rookie of the Year Thursday night at the annual Eastern College Athletic Conference Banquet held this year at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. In his first season under center, Noel led the Pioneers to the program’s second Northeast Conference Championship and the Pioneers first-ever berth into the FCS Playoffs.

In the program’s first-ever FCS playoff game, the Sacred Heart FAIRFIELD, Conn - Pioneers travel to take on the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon at Coffey Field. The 2013 Northeast Conference Champions finished the season on a three game winning streak, clinching the NEC title with a 42-25 win at Robert Morris on November 16th. Fordham closed out its regular season with a convincing 56-19 win at Colgate last Saturday. Sacred Heart and Fordham have never met on the grid iron.

Noel Hauls in 5th NEC Rookie of the Week Award
FAIRFIELD, Conn – Redshirt Sophomore R.J. Noel (Lowell, MA) has been named this week’s Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. It is Noel’s fifth rookie of the week honor this season and the Pioneers’ 13th NEC award of the year.

Sacred Heart Holds on for 24-21 Win over Monmouth
FAIRFIELD, Conn –Coming off a 24-10 loss at Saint Francis, the Sacred Heart Pioneers built a 24-7 halftime lead on the Monmouth Hawks and held on for a 24-21 win Saturday afternoon on Campus Field. Sacred Heart is now 2-0 after a loss this season and improve to 8-2 overall, 3-2 in the Northeast Conference.

Pioneers Welcome the Monmouth Hawks to Campus Field
The Sacred Heart Pioneers welcome former NEC-rival Monmouth to Campus Field for their final non-conference game of the season. Sacred Heart is coming off just their second loss of the season at Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers held a 7-3 halftime lead but scored a season low three points in the second half on their way to a 24-10 loss. SHU sits at 2-2 in the conference, tied for third place. Bryant and Duquesne are tied for first with just one NEC loss. Monmouth is coming off a thorough 48-23 beating of Cornell over the weekend. Last season, Monmouth defeated Sacred Heart 27-14 in West Long Branch, NJ.

Pioneers Fall 24-10 at Saint Francis
LORETTO, Penn – The Sacred Heart Pioneers scored its lowest point total of the season, falling to the Saint Francis Red Flash, 24-10, Saturday afternoon at DeGol Field in Loretto, PA. The loss snaps a two game winning streak and puts the Pioneers at 2-2 in the conference and 7-2 overall this season.

Pioneers Look For Three Straight at Saint Francis University
The Sacred Heart Pioneers look for their third consecutive conference vicory on the road against the Red Flash of Saint Francis University. The Pioneers are 4-0 on the road this season, including their first ever win at Bryant last Saturday. Saint Francis comes into this afternoon’s game following a 28-10 home victory over Monmouth. The Red Flash scored two defensive touchdowns on their way to snapping a two game losing streak. SFU lost their only NEC game of the season to CCSU on October 5th by the score of 38-29.

Troy Moore Named The Sports Network's National Co-Defensive Player of the Week
FAIRFIELD, Conn – Junior defensive lineman Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) has been named The Sport’s Network’s National Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Moore becomes the third Pioneer to win the award this season, joining the ranks of sophomore quarterback R.J Noel (Lowell, MA) and junior defensive back J.D Roussel (Pawtucket, RI).

FAIRFIELD, Conn – Junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA), sophomore quarterback R.J. Noel (Lowell, MA), and junior defensive Lineman Tory Moore (Worcester, MA) have all been honored with Northeast Conference weekly awards after Sacred Heart’s impressive 56-28 win at Bryant on Saturday. Noel was named Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, Spence the Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive time, and Moore was named Defensive Player of the Week. The Pioneers have now hauled in 10 NEC weekly honors this season.

Pioneers Score Early and Often in 56-28 Win over Bryant
SMITHFIELD, RI – The Sacred Heart Pioneers racked up 500 yards of total offense on their way to a 56-28 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs Saturday afternoon in Smithfield, RI. It is Sacred Heart’s first ever win at Bryant and improves their record to 7-1 and 2-1 in the NEC.

The 6-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers hit the road to take on the Bryant Bulldogs at Bulldog Stadium in Smithfield, Rhode Island. SHU is looking for their second straight Northeast Conference win, while Bryant is looking to snap a two game losing streak. Bryant is coming off a 41-14 loss to the Brown Bears. This is the first of back-to-back NEC road games for the Pioneers. The Pioneers have never won at Bryant and have lost three straight to the Bulldogs.

Sacred Heart junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorcchester, MA) piled up a career-high 211 yards with two scores as the Pioneers ran away with a 59-36 Northeast Conference win over Central Connecticut Saturday afternoon on Campus Field. The Pioneers forced four turnovers and blocked a punt, all leading to touchdowns in the win and improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the NEC.

Sacred Heart Welcomes Central Connecticut to Campus Field
FAIRFIELD, Conn - The 5-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers welcome their in-state rival, Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils, to Campus Field for a Northeast Conference clash. Last season, Sacred Heart defeated Central Connecticut 34-21 to earn their only Northeast Conference win of the 2012 season. Keshaudas Spence ran for 123 yards in the victory and the SHU defense snagged three interceptions. Sacred Heart is looking for their third straight victory over their in-state rival, while CCSU leads the all-time series 9-6. The Blue Devils and Pioneers first met on October 24, 1998, a 38-31 Central Connecticut victory.

Pioneers Drop NEC Opener to Wagner
Fairfield, CT – Before a record 4,288 person crowd at Campus Field, Wagner kicker Bryan Maley nailed a game-winning 42-yard field goal with just four seconds left to defeat the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 23-20, in their first NEC game of the year.

Pioneers Host Defending Northeast Conference Champs
Fairfield, CT - The undefeated Sacred Heart football team opens up their Northeast Conference schedule as they play host to the Wagner Seahawks, the defending conference champions. The Pioneers played the Seahawks tough in 2012, with Wagner prevailing 12-3 at Campus Field. Sacred Heart is 7-8 all-time against Wagner with their first meeting coming on September 19, 1998. The Pioneers last defeated Wagner in the final game of the 2013 season by a score of 38-22.

Sacred Heart Shuts Down Bucknell 16-0
Lewisburg, PA – The Sacred Heart Pioneers forced six turnovers and collected seven sacks on their way to a 16-0 victory over the Bucknell Bison Saturday night at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, PA. It is the first Sacred Heart shutout since October 5th, 2002 when they blanked Robert Morris 34-0. The Pioneers improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2008.

Sacred Heart freshman Alec Finney (Reading, PA) hit a 42-yard field goal as time expired to cap a 26-24 Pioneer win at Lafayette College Saturday night. Sophomore quarterback RJ Noel (Lowell, MA) engineered an 11-play, 54 yard drive with 2:02 left in the game to set up Finney’s game-winning kick and send the Pioneers off on a 2-0 start to their season.

Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart football team has been selected to pick seventh in the Northeast Conference this season, as voted on by the NEC Head Coaches and announced Monday morning during the first-ever NEC Football Head Coaches Google+ Hangout. Junior defensive lineman Troy Moore and senior offensive lineman Paul Link were named to the Pre-season All-NEC team.

Sacred Heart sophomore running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorcester, MA) ran for 131 yards and two scores but Saint Francis' quarterback John Kelly racked up 187 yards to lead the Red Flash to a 44-24 win over the Pioneers in the season finale for both teams Saturday in Loretto, PA.

Pioneers Close Season at Saint Francis (PA)
The Sacred Heart Pioneers head to Saint Francis (PA) to close out the 2012 season. SHU is looking to end the year by snapping a four-game losing streak and avoiding a 1-7 NEC mark. The Pioneers are coming off a 21-17 loss at home to Robert Morris last week where they saw a 17-6 fourth quarter lead erased by the Colonals. RMU’s Jeff Sinclair tossed the winning touchdown to Nick Groat on fourth and one from the SHU two-yard line with 35 seconds to play. The SFU Red Flash are coming into the season finale off a 45-31 win at Monmouth last week. Saint Francis got their first ever win at Monmouth and in the process, set a new Division I school record for wins.

Pioneers Beaten by Robert Morris Late, 21-17
Robert Morris quarterback Jeff Sinclair hit Nick Groat for a touchdown on fourth and one with 35 seconds left as the Colonials erased a 17-6 Sacred Heart fourth quarter lead and steal a 21-17 win on Campus Field Saturday afternoon. The Colonials never led Saturday until Sinclair hit a wide open Groat in the end zone on a fourth and one from the SHU two-yard line.

Pioneers Host Robert Morris on "Senior Day"
The Sacred Heart Pioneers play host to the Robert Morris Colonials on “Senior Day” Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers will honor their 21 graduating seniors, along with their parents, before kick-off with the Colonials. SHU is looking to end a three-game slide, their longest losing streak of the season, as the close out the season against RMU and Saint Francis (PA) next week. SHU is coming off a 34-14 loss at Bryant last week where three big plays by the Bulldogs proved costly. The Pioneers defense had 17 tackles for a loss and five sacks but touchdown throws of 74 and 52 yards and an interception return put SHU in a hole they couldn’t get out of. The Colonials are coming off a 17-13 win over their Pittsburgh rival Duquesne. Quarterback Jeff Sinclair tossed a 41-yard touchdown to Duane Mitchell for the winning score early in the fourth quarter.

Pioneers Take to the Road at Bryant on Saturday
Sacred Heart opens the month of November with a road trip to newest Northeast Conference member Bryant on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers are coming off a near upset of #20 ranked Albany last Saturday, falling 23-20 in the closing minutes of the game. The Sacred Heart football team gave the #20/24 ranked Albany Great Danes all they could handle on Saturday afternoon before falling 23-20 in a Northeast Conference match-up on Campus Field. Albany's Omar Osbourne rang off a 40-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left to give the Great Danes the lead for good and keep them unbeaten in NEC play at 5-0.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers head back home to Campus Field on Saturday looking to bounce back from a 35-3 loss at Duquesne as they play host to the Albany Great Danes on “SHU Family Weekend.” The Pioneers are home for just the third time this season and carry a 2-5 mark into Saturday’s match-up. The defending Northeast Conference Champion and preseason favorite Great Danes come in off their bye week sporting a 6-1 record and a 4-0 NEC mark. Albany finds itself ranked in both top-25 national polls this week. The Great Danes moved up two spots in the Coaches Poll to No. 20, staying ranked for the third straight week, while breaking into the The Sports Network Poll for the first time in six years at No. 24. The 2012 season is the last for the Great Danes in the NEC as they will move into the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in 2013.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers were dealt a 35-3 Northeast Conference loss at Duquesne University Saturday afternoon on Arthur J. Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, PA. The Pioneers struggled offensively and a few special teams mistakes proved costly in falling to 2-5 and 1-4 in the NEC. Duquesne improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.

The Pioneers return to Northeast Conference play with a trip to Pittsburgh, PA to face the Duquesne Dukes Saturday afternoon. Sacred Heart is coming off a 27-10 win at Dartmouth last week to improve to 3-1 against the Ivy League over the last three seasons. The SHU defense allowed just three points and shut out the Big Green in the second half while sophomore Keshaudas Spence ran wild to the tune of a career-high 138 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The Dukes will put a nine-game home winning streak on the line as they look to bounce back from their first NEC loss last week. Duquesne, coming off their bye, lost at Central Connecticut State, 38-31, last Saturday.

Fresh off a 34-21 “Homecoming” win over Northeast Conference rival Central Connecticut State, the Sacred Heart Pioneers are right back at home playing host to the Wagner College Seahawks on Saturday. The Pioneers snapped a three-game skid and delivered interim head coach Mark Nofri his first win beating NEC rival CCSU. The Pioneers and Blue Devils both come in searching for their first win of 2012. The Pioneers will kick-off the 2012 season on the road taking on the Morgan State Bears from the MEAC. SHU was picked eighth in the 2012 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll heading into the 2012 season, coming off a 5-6 campaing last fall. The Pioneers finished 3-5 in the NEC, good for a tie for sixth place. The Bears posted a 5-6 mark in 2011 as well and posted a 4-4 conference mark. Five Sacred Heart Pioneers were named to the 2011 Preseason All-Northeast Conference team by Phil Steele's 2011 FCS College Football Preview. Senior linebacker Chris Mandas (Mission Viejo, CA) led the group with a spot on the All-NEC first team defense. Senior Ahmad Covington (Clementon, NJ) and junior Niko Sierra (Longmeadow, MA) were placed on the second team defense and seniors Rich Rossi (Moosic, PA) and Justin Martel (Manchester, NH) were named to the second team offense.
