FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Senior wide receiver Andrew O'Neill has been named one of 13 finalists for the 2017 STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
O'Neill earned his second straight CoSIDA Academic All-District selection this season. The senior Health Sciences major has a 3.86 cumulative grade point average, and has been named to the Northeast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll three times. He led the Pioneers with 59 receptions and four touchdown catches, and was second on the team with 690 receiving yards. O'Neill had a career-high 11 receptions, 142 receiving yards, and two touchdowns at Bryant on Nov. 4. He has had a reception in 22 consecutive games.
Named after the wife of legendary Grambling State football coach Eddie Robinson, the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award is presented to an FCS student-athlete who excels in both the classroom and the community. STATS will announce the winner on Monday, Dec. 11.
