FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart football team returns to campus this weekend to start its fall training camp, with the first practice Sunday morning.
"We're excited to get back to work and prepare for the upcoming season," said head coach Mark Nofri, who is entering his sixth season at the helm. "We've got a good leadership core that's returning and I like our team chemistry coming out of spring practice. Now we have to build on that to get off on the right foot this fall."
The Pioneers posted their fourth consecutive winning season in 2016, going 6-5 for the second straight year. SHU also defeated a ranked opponent for the third time in as many seasons with a 38-10 win at #20/24 Stony Brook. SHU returns 16 starters from last year's squad, nine on offense and seven on defense.
Sacred Heart opens the season at Campus Field on Sept. 2 against Stetson.
