FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) and sophomore quarterback R.J. Noel (Lowell, MA) both claimed Northeast Conference weekly awards after the Pioneers defeated CCSU 58-36 on Saturday afternoon. Spence was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Noel reeled in his third NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
Spence rushed for a career-high 211 yards on 23 carries, beomcing just the tenth Pioneer to ever rush for over 200 yards in a game. Junior running back Sean Bell (Medford Lakes, NJ) rushed for over 200 yards against Lincoln earlier this season. Each time the Blue Devils were gaining momentum, Spence rattled off a crucial run to keep the Pioneers ahead.
Noel tossed a career-high four touchdowns on his way to another career-high of 297 yards through the air. Noel tossed two of those touchdowns to junior wide out Tyler Dube (Southington, CT), including a 72-yard completion, the longest touchdown for the Pioneers this season. Noel's 68.0-completion (17 for 25) percentage is the sophomore signal caller's highest of the season.
Noel, Spence and the rest of the Pioneers travel to take on the Bryant Bulldogs this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
