J.D. Roussel Named to AP All-American Team
December 23, 2013Senior defensive back J.D. Roussel (Pawtucket, RI) was named an Associated Press third team All-American as announced Friday afternoon. Roussel joins juniors Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) and Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) who were named All-Americans by The Sports Network last week. Since 2001, Sacred Heart has earned 14 All-America honors. -
Spence and Moore Named Sports Network All-Americans
December 18, 2013Junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA) and junior defensive lineman Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) have been named All-Americans as announced by The Sports Network Wednesday afternoon. Spence and Moore join Kayode Mwawe (2000) as the only Pioneers in program history to be named FCS All-Americans. The Sacred Heart football team won the 2013 Northeast Conference Championship and earned the program's first-ever berth into the FCS Playoffs. -
Sacred Heart Football Announces Summer Clinics
December 11, 2013FAIRFIELD, Conn – Head Coach Mark Nofri has announced the dates of Sacred Heart football's annual One-Day Developmental Football clinics. The reigning Northeast Conference Champs will host clinics at the Pitt Center and Campus Field on Saturday, June 7th and Friday, June 20th. The clinics are open to all players entering grades 9-12. -
Link, Moore, Spence Named All-New England
December 03, 2013FAIRFIELD, Conn – Following a historic 2013 season for the Sacred Heart football team, running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorchester, MA), offensive lineman Paul Link (East Greewich, RI), and defensive lineman Troy Moore (Worcester, MA) have all been named to the FCS All-New England team, as voted by the New England Football Writers’ Association Monday evening. Last season, just one Pioneer, linebacker Tyler Foehr, earned All-New England honors. -
Pioneers Fall in FCS Playoffs 37-27 at Fordham
November 30, 2013BRONX, NY – In their first-ever FCS Playoff game, the Sacred Heart Pioneers turned the ball over a season-high four times, falling 37-27 to the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon at Jack Coffey Field. The Pioneers finish the season 10-3. -
Pioneers Head to Fordham for FCS Playoffs First Round
November 29, 2013In the program’s first-ever FCS playoff game, the Sacred Heart FAIRFIELD, Conn - Pioneers travel to take on the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon at Coffey Field. The 2013 Northeast Conference Champions finished the season on a three game winning streak, clinching the NEC title with a 42-25 win at Robert Morris on November 16th. Fordham closed out its regular season with a convincing 56-19 win at Colgate last Saturday. Sacred Heart and Fordham have never met on the grid iron. -
NEC Football Champs Win Four Major Awards; Place Ten on All-NEC Teams
November 27, 2013Fairfield, CT – The 2013 Northeast Conference Champion Sacred Heart football team placed a program record 10 players on the All-NEC Football first and second teams, announced on Wednesday morning. Sacred Heart also won four major awards, including Head Coach Mark Nofri being named NEC Coach of the Year. -
Pioneers will play Fordham in First Round of FCS Playoffs
November 24, 2013FAIRFIELD, CT – The Sacred Heart University football team will be playing at Fordham for the first round of the FCS Playoffs Saturday, November 30th at 1:00 pm as announced on the FCS Playoffs Selection show on ESPNU Sunday morning. Sacred Heart and Fordham have never met on the gridiron. -
SHU Football Coach Mark Nofri Nominated for FCS Coach of the Year
November 20, 2013FAIRFIELD, Conn - Sacred Heart Head Football Coach Mark Nofri was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, given to the Football Championship Subdivision Coach of the Year Wednesday. Coach Nofri led the Pioneers to a 10-2 regular season record on their way to the Northeast Conference Title and a berth into the FCS Playoffs. -
Gordon Hill Named College Football Performance National Kickoff Returner of the Week
November 18, 2013FAIRFIELD, Conn – Junior safety Gordon Hill (Sicklerville, NJ) has been named The Sports Network’s National Kick Returner of the Week. On Saturday, Hill and the Pioneers defeated the Robert Morris Colonials 42-15 to win the 2013 NEC Championship and a berth into the FCS Playoffs. -

November 18, 2013FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sacred Heart quarterback R.J. Noel (Lowell, NJ) and safety Gordon Hill (Sicklerville, NJ) were both honored with Northeast Conference weekly awards this week, following the Pioneers 42-25 win over Robert Morris on Satuday afternoon. Noel hauled in his seventh NEC Rookie of the Week award, while Hill garnered his first Defensive Player of the Week honor. Noel and Hill were both vital pieces in Saced Heart’s wire-to-wire NEC Championship-clinching victory and first-ever berth into the FCS Playoffs. -
Pioneers Defeat Robert Morris 42-25, Capture 2013 Northeast Conference Championship
November 16, 2013The Sacred Heart University football team completed its magical run, winning the Northeast Conference Championship and a berth into the FCS playoffs following a 42-25 win over Robert Morris Saturday afternoon in Moon Township. A year removed from a 2-9 record and a last place NEC finish, Head Coach Mark Nofri and the Pioneers will play in the FCS playoffs for the first time in program history. -

November 14, 2013The Sacred Heart Pioneers look for a share of the Northeast Conference when they travel to take on the Robert Morris Colonials in Moon Township, Pa. SHU is coming off a 10-0 win over Duquesne last Saturday afternoon. Junior running back Keshaudas Spence ran for 181 yards against the Dukes on his way to breaking the Sacred Heart single season rushing record. Robert Morris comes into this afternoon’s game on a three game winning streak, with wins over Wagner, Bryant and Central Connecticut. Last week, the Colonials defeated CCSU 54-21 in New Britain. Quarterback Paul Jones tossed three touchdowns in the win over CCSU. -

Sacred Heart is now 2-0 after a loss this season and improve to 8-2 overall, 3-2 in the Northeast Conference. -
Pioneers Welcome the Monmouth Hawks to Campus Field
October 31, 2013The Sacred Heart Pioneers welcome former NEC-rival Monmouth to Campus Field for their final non-conference game of the season. Sacred Heart is coming off just their second loss of the season at Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers held a 7-3 halftime lead but scored a season low three points in the second half on their way to a 24-10 loss. SHU sits at 2-2 in the conference, tied for third place. Bryant and Duquesne are tied for first with just one NEC loss. Monmouth is coming off a thorough 48-23 beating of Cornell over the weekend. Last season, Monmouth defeated Sacred Heart 27-14 in West Long Branch, NJ. -
Pioneers Look For Three Straight at Saint Francis University
October 26, 2013The Sacred Heart Pioneers look for their third consecutive conference vicory on the road against the Red Flash of Saint Francis University. The Pioneers are 4-0 on the road this season, including their first ever win at Bryant last Saturday. Saint Francis comes into this afternoon’s game following a 28-10 home victory over Monmouth. The Red Flash scored two defensive touchdowns on their way to snapping a two game losing streak. SFU lost their only NEC game of the season to CCSU on October 5th by the score of 38-29. -

October 26, 2013LORETTO, Penn – The Sacred Heart Pioneers scored its lowest point total of the season, falling to the Saint Francis Red Flash, 24-10, Saturday afternoon at DeGol Field in Loretto, PA. The loss snaps a two game winning streak and puts the Pioneers at 2-2 in the conference and 7-2 overall this season. -

Noel (Lowell, MA), and junior defensive Lineman Tory Moore (Worcester, MA) have all been honored with Northeast Conference weekly awards after Sacred Heart’s impressive 56-28 win at Bryant on Saturday. Noel was named Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, Spence the Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive time, and Moore was named Defensive Player of the Week. The Pioneers have now hauled in 10 NEC weekly honors this season. -

October 19, 2013SMITHFIELD, RI – The Sacred Heart Pioneers racked up 500 yards of total offense on their way to a 56-28 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs Saturday afternoon in Smithfield, RI. It is Sacred Heart’s first ever win at Bryant and improves their record to 7-1 and 2-1 in the NEC. -
Pioneers Look For Second NEC Win at Bryant
October 17, 2013The 6-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers hit the road to take on the Bryant Bulldogs at Bulldog Stadium in Smithfield, Rhode Island. SHU is looking for their second straight Northeast Conference win, while Bryant is looking to snap a two game losing streak. Bryant is coming off a 41-14 loss to the Brown Bears. This is the first of back-to-back NEC road games for the Pioneers. The Pioneers have never won at Bryant and have lost three straight to the Bulldogs. -

Pioneer Offense Shines in 59-36 Win over CCSU
October 12, 2013Sacred Heart junior running back Keshaudas Spence (Dorcchester, MA) piled up a career-high 211 yards with two scores as the Pioneers ran away with a 59-36 Northeast Conference win over Central Connecticut Saturday afternoon on Campus Field. The Pioneers forced four turnovers and blocked a punt, all leading to touchdowns in the win and improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the NEC.
