Senior Justin Embler (Cinnaminson, NJ) racked up a team high 11 tackles for the Pioneers against Bryant en route to being named the College Football Performance Awards D-I FCS National Defensive Lineman Performer of the Week.

Pioneer Offense Struggles in 26-6 Loss to Bryant
Bryant junior running back Jordan Brown piled up 334 all-purpose yards including 248 on the ground to lead the Bulldogs past Sacred Heart 26-6 Friday night in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams. Brown broke the game open with a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown mid way through the second quarter, giving his team a 16-3 lead en route to the win.

Five Sacred Heart Pioneers were named to the 2011 Preseason All-Northeast Conference team by Phil Steele's 2011 FCS College Football Preview. Senior linebacker Chris Mandas (Mission Viejo, CA) led the group with a spot on the All-NEC first team defense. Senior Ahmad Covington (Clementon, NJ) and junior Niko Sierra (Longmeadow, MA) were placed on the second team defense and seniors Rich Rossi (Moosic, PA) and Justin Martel (Manchester, NH) were named to the second team offense.
