POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Sacred Heart men's fencing team opened up the 2005-06 campaign at Vassar College on Sunday and came away with a trio of victories against Vassar, Marist College, and Yeshiva University.

In the foil competition, Lucas Bernacki went 2-1 against Vassar and 2-0 against Yeshiva. Jeremy Goun shutout all three schools, finishing with a perfect 9-0 record. Kris Singhaviroj finished against Vassar with a 2-1 record and sweeping both Marist College and Yeshiva University, 6-0.

In epee, senior captain Adam Constantine finished 3-1 during the competition. Charlie Thompson faced off against all three schools, walking away with an 8-1 record. Earl Gendron went against two schools, earning a record of 2-1. Freshman Tom Streko started his SHU fencing career with a 4-2, while senior Robert Howard finished the day 3-3.

Finishing up with the sabre competition, senior Alex Bente and sophomore Matthew Laudicina each had records of 3-2 against Vassar and Yeshiva. Senior Manuel Calderon finished the day with a 3-3 record. Freshman David Rabinowitz started his fencing season with a 3-4 opening weekend.
