FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior center Liam Potter (Lincolnshire, England) was named the Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week today for the first time in his career.
Potter helped the Pioneers to a 3-1 record over the holiday winter break, averaging 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He recorded three straight double-doubles - all coming in Sacred Heart wins - and missed a fourth straight by just two boards in the Pioneers' 88-85 setback at FDU on Saturday.
Potter registered career-highs with 18 points and 13 rebounds in a comeback victory over Stony Brook on December 21st, then followed with 11 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks the following evening in an 82-79 win at Holy Cross. His third straight double-double came last Wednesday with 14 points, 12 boards and four blocks in a home victory over Brown. Against FDU, Potter contributed 15 points on 6-7 shooting, and added eight rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Potter, who sat out last season, currently leads the NEC with 2.7 blocks per game and ranks third in the conference with 8.2 rebounds per outing. He is also averaging 8.3 ppg, good for fourth on the Pioneers.
