QUEENS, NY - Senior Eugene Lawrence led a furious St. John's outside attack with 17 points, while Justin Burrell had a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards to lead the Red Storm to a 76-49 win over visiting Sacred Heart University Tuesday night.

St. John's came out red hot hitting their first five shots from the field and opening up a 14-2 lead. By the time the horn sounded for the half, the Red Storm had opened up a 48-21 lead. St. John's shot 55 percent from the field in the half, and 7-12 from three-point range. Lawrence and Larry Wright led the Red Storm attack in the period with 12 points apiece.

The Sacred Heart problems in the first half were compounded when Chauncey Hardy picked up his second foul just six minutes into the game and spent the rest of the period on the bench. The Pioneers were out rebounded in the half 27-11.

The Pioneers scored the first five points of the second half thanks to buckets from Ryon Howard and Brice Brooks and a free throw from Hardy to make it 48-26. A three from Lawrence with 13:20 left put the Red Storm back up 57-32. The Pioneers never managed to get closer than 22 the rest of the way.

Brooks led the Pioneers with eight points. Senior Drew Shubik had seven points and six boards.
