Men's Basketball Loses Season Finale

FAIRFIELD, CT - Junior guard Darshan Luckey scored a game-high 22 points while senior center Jason Osborne added 13 and 11 rebounds to help St. Francis University to a 77-60 win over Sacred Heart University in a Northeast Conference men's basketball game Monday night.
The loss ends Sacred Heart's season at 4-23 overall and 3-15 in the NEC. St. Francis improves to 15-12 overall and 10-8 in the conference. The Red Flash will play in the Northeast Conference Tournament starting on Thursday.
The Red Flash opened up a 12-point lead on Sacred Heart at 35-23 with 4:34 to go in the first half after a three by Luckey. The Pioneers chipped away and cut the gap to five at the intermission at 37-32 with a 9-2 run, six of which came off the hand of junior guard Mike Parker.
St. Francis started the second half with an 8-0 run, holding the Pioneers scoreless for nearly six minutes. Donnell King had the first SHU bucket of the half with 14:04 to play, but his club still trailed 45-34.
The Red Flash held a 58-40 lead after a pair of Garrett Farha free throws with 10:10 to play in the game, but the Pioneers had one last gasp left. Back-to-back threes by Parker and freshman Luke Granato had the Pioneers within seven at 60-53 with 5:06 to play. St. Francis scored the next six points on buckets by Osborne and Rahsaan Benton and two Luckey free throws and the Pioneers were done for the evening.
Junior center Kibwe Trim led the Pioneers with 10 points and 11 rebounds, his third double-double of the season. Sophomore Joey Henley finished with 12 points and nine boards, while Parker finished with 11 points.
