HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Freshman guard Van Crafton tied a career-high with 24 points and set a Quinnipiac Division I record for 3-pointers with eight to lead the Bobcats to a 90-62 win over Sacred Heart in Northeast Conference play Wednesday.
Van Crafton was 8-for-10 from the field, all 3-point attempts.
The 28-point margin of victory was the second highest for Quinnipiac (5-10, 1-3) at the Division I level. The Bobcats defeated Long Island 94-64 in 2001.
Rob Monroe had 14 points and five assists and Kason Mims 10 points and 11 assists for Quinnipiac. Rashaun Banjo chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds and C.J. Vick added 14 points for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac had 23 assists and shot 51.6 percent from the field while making 11 of its 21 3-point attempts. The Bobcats also held Sacred Heart (7-8, 3-3) to 31.9 percent shooting.
Quinnipiac trailed 9-8 four minutes into the first half, but then went on a 19-2 run. Later in the first half, a 10-0 run put the Bobcats up 44-18 with 2:27 left.
