Setting the Scene... Sacred Heart looks to sweep its four-game homestand when Fairleigh Dickinson comes to the Pitt Center Thursday night.
Last Time Out... Sacred Heart made a season-high 13 three-pointers last Saturday in a 77-62 win over Central Connecticut at the Pitt Center on Senior Day. Sean Hoehn made five threes on his way to a game-high 17 points. Matej Buovac added three triples for 13 points off the bench. SHU shot 56.5% from beyond the arc and 84.2% at the foul line in its fourth straight win.
All-Time vs. Fairleigh Dickinson... Sacred Heart leads the overall series with the Knights 17-12. SHU last swept the season series with FDU in 2015.
Last Meeting... Joseph Lopez made the go-ahead basket with 0:31 left on Feb. 2 at Stratis Arena, as a pair of Chris Robinson free throws clinched a 74-70 win for the Pioneers over FDU. SHU trailed 60-53 in the second before going on a 12-2 run over 5:57 to take a 65-62 lead with 5:22 to go. Quincy McKnight had his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds with six assists. Darian Anderson and Stephan Jiggetts each had 20 points for FDU.
Four In A Row To Start February... Sacred Heart is currently on its longest winning streak of the season, winning its last four games. The Pioneers have averaged 76 points per game during this streak, winning by over nine points per game. SHU's rebound margin over the last four games is +6.8 with four different players leading the Pioneers in boards in each game.
Hoehn's Helping Out... Sophomore Sean Hoehn tied a career-high with five made three-pointers Saturday against Central Connecticut, leading SHU with 17 points in the 77-62 win. In the last five games, Hoehn is averaging 11.8 points per game while shooting 55.6% from the three-point arc. He has also made 10 of his last 12 free throws. Hoehn is currently seventh in the NEC with a .373 three-point field goal percentage and eighth in assists at 3.22 per game.
Three Is A Magic Number... During their current four-game winning streak, the Pioneers are shooting 41.9% from the three-point line. In the last two wins against St. Francis Brooklyn and Central Connecticut, SHU made a combined 23 three-pointers and shot over 56% from the arc in each game. The Pioneers are now fifth in the NEC in three-point field goal percentage at 33.7%.
Lopez On The Boards... Joseph Lopez led SHU in rebounding for the 13th time this season last Saturday against Central Connecticut, pulling down seven boards. Lopez is fourth in the NEC in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game. He's also fifth in field goal percentage at 56.5%. Lopez has had eight double-doubles this season, five of which have come in conference play.
Scouting the Knights... Fairleigh Dickinson is currently tied for second in the NEC with LIU Brooklyn at 9-5, three games back of first place Mount St. Mary's. The Knights have lost four of their last five games, including Saturday's 75-69 loss at LIU Brooklyn. Darnell Edge led the Knights with 19 points in the game, with Kaleb Bishop adding 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. For the season, FDU has four players averaging double figures in scoring led by Darian Anderson's 16.8 points per game. Stephan Jiggetts averages 13.6 points and an NEC-leading 4.6 assists per game.
