FAIFIELD, Conn – Freshman guard De'Von Barnett (Waldorf, MD) has been named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Barnett also won the award on December 9th after making his Pioneer debut against Hofstra on December 4th.
Barnett averaged 14.5 points in two games for Sacred Heart over Winter break. First, the Maryland-native poured in a career-best 14 points against Florida A&M on December 23rd in the Pioneers' final game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. Barnett followed that up with another personal best, 15 points, in Sacred Heart's 66-53 win over New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. The rookie Pioneer has now scored in double digits four times this season and is averaging 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Barnett and the rest of the Pioneers will be back in action on Thurday night as they host Robert Morris to begin Northeast Conference play.
