FAIRFIELD, CT- Sacred Heart Head Men’s Basketball Coach Anthony Latina will be one of the featured presenters at the upcoming Nutmeg Basketball Coaches Clinic presented by the Nutmeg State Games. The two-day clinic, hosted at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, CT, will take place on Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th.

FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sacred Heart junior point guard Phil Gaetano (Wallingford, CT) was named as one of six Northeast Conference Scholar Athletes for the Winter season Wednesday afternoon. Gaetano, a Business Administration major, finished the winter semester with a 3.77 grade point average.

Men's Basketball Adds Two More to 2014 Class
FAIRFIELD, Conn - Sacred Heart head men's basketball coach Anthony Latina announced the additions of student-athletes Chris Robinson (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and Filip Nowicki (Wloclanek, Poland/ Midwest Elite Pep) for the 2014-15 season. Robinson and Nowicki join freshmen Cane Broome (West Hartford, CT) and Vince Fritz (Overland Park, KS) who signed letters of intent in November, to complete Coach Latina’s first recruiting class as a head coach.

Men's Basketball Closes Season With CCSU on Senior Day
Sacred Heart wraps up its season on Saturday afternoon as the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils come to town for a 3:30 tip. The Pioneers are looking to end the season on a two game winning streak, after defeating Mount St. Mary’s Thursday night. CCSU will be attempting to improve its tournament seed after clinching a spot in the NEC Tournament Thursday night. The Blue Devils defeated Sacred Heart, 74-69, in New Britain on February 15th. SHU will be honoring its two seniors, Louis Montes and Mostafa Abdel Latif prior to the start of the game. At halftime, there will be a ceremony in which the Pitt Center Court will be named after former head basketball coach, Dave Bike.

Barnett's Career-High Helps Lead SHU Past Mount St. Mary's, 72-65
EMMITSBURG, MD – In front of a contingency of friends and family, Maryland-native De’Von Barnett (Waldorf, MD) scored a career-high 24 points as the Sacred Heart Pioneers defeated Mount St. Mary’s, 71-65, Thursday night at Knott Arena. With the win, Sacred Heart snaps a 12 game losing streak.

Sacred Heart continues the final week of the regular season with a Thursday night match-up against Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg. The Pioneers are coming off an 80-75 setback to LIU Brooklyn on Tuesday night, their 12th consecutive loss. Mount St. Mary’s is sitting in fourth place in the NEC after a convincing 88-73 win over Bryant on Monday night. Earlier this season, The Mount defeated Sacred Heart, 73-60, at the William H. Pitt Center.

Men's Basketball Welcomes LIU Brooklyn Tuesday Night
The Pioneers begin the final week of the regular season with a home match-up against the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn. Sacred Heart and LIU Brooklyn were originally scheduled to play on February 13th but that game was postponed due to a snowstorm. SHU is looking to snap an 11 game losing streak, while LIU Brooklyn is still battling for the eighth and final NEC Tournament spot. The Blackbirds have lost two consecutive games and are currently two games behind CCSU for the final playoff spot.

HACKENSACK, NJ – Fairleigh Dickinson had players score in double digits Saturday afternoon, on its way to a 73-66 win over Sacred Heart at Stratis Arena. SHU has now dropped eleven consecutive games and falls to 1-12 in the NEC this season.

Pioneers Seek Season Sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday
The Pioneers travel to Hackensack, New Jersey Saturday afternoon looking to defeat the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights for the second time this season. Sacred Heart defeated FDU on February 11th for its lone conference win of the season. Louis Montes scored a team-high 15 points for Sacred Heart. Since then, SHU has lost ten consecutive games and are now 1-11 in the conference. FDU comes into this game fresh off a much needed 63-52 win at second place Bryant on Thursday night. The Knights had lost five consecutive games before the victory in Smithfield.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers will look to snap a nine game losing streak Thursday night when they take on the Wagner Seahawks at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island. NEW BRITAIN, Conn – The Central Connecticut Blue Devils used a 16-0 second half run to take momentum from Sacred Heart and ultimately defeat the Pioneers 74-69 Saturday afternoon at Detrick Gymnasium. The Pioneers were outscored 58-0 by CCSU’s bench. Sacred Heart falls to 1-10 in the NEC this season.

Pioneers Hit the Road for In-State Showdown at Central Connecticut
The Sacred Heart Pioneers hit the road for the first time since January 25th to take on the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils at Detrick Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers are looking to snap an eight game losing streak that dates back to January 11th. CCSU comes into this afternoon having won two of its last three and a NEC record of 3-7. The Blue Devils are the only team to defeat first place Robert Morris this season, coming back from 16 down to beat the Colonials 74-73. Both Sacred Heart’s and CCSU’s games on Thursday night were postponed due to the weather.

FAIRFIELD, Conn - Due to the impending snowstorm, the Sacred Heart men’s basketball game against LIU Brooklyn, scheduled for Thursday night, has been postponed. The game will now be played on February 25th at 7:00 pm.

Men's Basketball Falls 62-55 to Wagner
FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart men’s basketball team did not score in the final eight minutes and ten seconds of the first half and finished the game shooting 26.2 percent (16-of-61) from the floor en route to a 62-55 loss to Wagner Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers’ 55 points and 26.2 shooting percentage are the lowest since Sacred Heart's opening game of the season against Fairfield. Sacred Heart has now lost eight consecutive games for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

The 60 points is the third lowest for the Pioneers this season. Sacred Heart falls to 1-8 in the NEC this season.

The Pioneers will play their third televised game of the season as the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers come town for a rare 9:00 tip-off at the William H. Pitt Center. Sacred Heart is looking to snap a six-game losing streak and win its first game since January 11th. The Mount currently sits in fourth place in the NEC with a conference record of 5-3. MSM is looking to win their third NEC game in a row, after defeating FDU in overtime last Thursday night, and then beating LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. Sam Prescott drilled a three-pointer with 0.3 seconds left to down the Blackbirds.

FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Bryant Bulldogs built an 18 point halftime lead on Sacred Heart on their way to a 76-67 win Sunday afternoon at the William H. Pitt Center. The Pioneers have now lost six straight and fall to 1-7 in the Northeast Conference.

The Pioneers look to snap a five game losing streak as they play host to the Bryant Bulldogs Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm. SHU was defeated by Bryant, 85-70, on January 16th in Smithfield. Bryant is coming off a 79-76 loss at Robert Morris on Thursday night, a game that pitted the first place team in the NEC against the second place team. The Pioneers are 5-1 all-time against Bryant in the William H. Pitt Center, but just 1-5 this season at home.

After a tough 0-4 road trip, the Pioneers return home to the William H. Pitt Center to host the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers Wednesday night. Sacred Heart is looking to snap a four-game losing streak and win its second conference game of the season. St. Francis Brooklyn is also coming off a loss, to the Bryant Bulldogs, 83-79 on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers are 3-3 in the conference with wins over Central Connecticut and LIU Brooklyn to go along with the January 18th win over Sacred Heart. The Pioneers were victorious in their last home game, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson, 71-67, on January 11th.

The Pioneers have dropped three games in a row, and fall to 1-4 in the Northeast Conference this season.

Just two weeks after their first match-up of the season, the Sacred Heart Pioneers and the Robert Morris Colonials will meet again Thursday night in Moon Township. On January 9th, RMU defeated Sacred Heart 79-70 at the Pitt Center, thanks to a 36 point outing from guard Karvel Anderson. The Pioneers are looking to snap a two-game losing streak, while Robert Morris is hoping to extend a four game winning streak and stay undefeated in NEC play. RMU has won each of its first four conference games by single digits.

The Terriers are looking for two consecutive wins after defeating the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils Thursday night, 76-66. SHU is looking for revenge after St. Francis Brooklyn defeated the Pioneers on the final day of the regular season to earn a berth into last year’s Northeast Conference Tournament. Last season, both teams beat each other at home.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers are looking for two consecutive wins for the first time this season as they take on the Bryant Bulldogs Thursday night at the Chace Athletic Center. The Pioneers are coming off a 71-67 win over FDU on Saturday afternoon to earn their first NEC victory of the season. The win also signified the Pioneers’ first home win of the year, after starting the season 0-4 at the Pitt Center. Bryant is also 1-1 in the Northeast Conference after defeating Saint Francis University last Thursday and then falling short to Robert Morris on Saturday.

It was a tale of two halves for the Sacred Heart men’s basketball team on Saturday in the Pitt Center as they defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 71-67 to earn their first NEC victory of the 2013-14 season. After allowing the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights to score 40 first half points and trailing by six at the break, the Pioneers clamped down in the second half, giving up just 27 points and outscoring the Knights 37-27. Sacred Heart improves to 4-13 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers play host to the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in the second of back-to-back home games to start the Northeast Conference season. Sacred Heart fell to 9-6 in NEC openers with a 79-70 loss to Robert Morris Thursday night at the Pitt Center. FDU won its first conference game Thursday night, a 85-79 home victory over Mount St. Mary’s. Sacred Heart is 0-4 at home for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

FAIRFIELD, Conn – Senior guard Karvel Anderson scored a career-high 36 points on 15-of-19 shooting as the Robert Morris Colonials defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 79-70, at the Pitt Center Thursday night to kick-off the Northeast Conference season. The Pioneers fall to 0-4 at home this season and 3-13 overall.

Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart Pioneers host the Robert Morris Colonials Thursday night to begin their 15th season in the Northeast Conference. The Pioneers are riding high after snapping a six-game losing streak, Saturday afternoon with a 66-53 win over New Hampshire. One the other side, the Colonials have dropped three in a row and eight of their last ten games. Most recently, Robert Morris dropped back-to-back games to national powers, Alabama and Oklahoma State. Sacred Heart is 9-5 all-time in Northeast Conference openers.

Pioneers Begin New Year with Trip to New Hampshire
With 2013 in the rear-view, the Sacred Heart men’s basketball team begins the new year with a trip to New Hampshire to take on the UNH Wildcats at Lundholm Gym Saturday afternoon. Sacred Heart is looking to snap a six game losing streak after dropping all four games on a west coast trip that included match-ups with Santa Clara, UNLV, Radford and Florida A&M. The Pioneers will take on a New Hampshire team that has lost ten consecutive games after starting the season 2-0. The Wildcats have not been victorious since they defeated Duquesne on November 13th.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - In game three of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic, the Sacred Heart Pioneers will take on the Radford Highlanders at the Orleans Arena Sunday afternoon. Sacred Heart and Radford are both 0-2 thus far in the Classic with both teams losing at Santa Clara and at UNLV. Most recently, the Pioneers were defeated by UNLV 82-50 Friday night in game two of the Classic. Sacred Heart is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, while Radford (6-4) won back-to-back games before coming out west.

After leading by seven at halftime Tuesday night at Conte Forum, the Sacred Heart men’s basketball team had a chance to beat the Boston Colege Eagles in regulation but Chris Evans’ (Stamford, Conn.) three-pointer with two seconds left went off the mark. Boston College jumped out to a six-point lead early in overtime and won the game 75-67.

Along with Sacred Heart, the Connecticut Six consists of Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut, Hartford, Fairfield, and Yale. Sacred Heart went 9-20 last season and finished ninth in the NEC.

Former Sacred Heart men's basketball player Shane Gibson (Killingly, CT) will be playing for the Sacramento Kings in the 2013 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas from July 12th-22nd. Gibson worked out for the Kings during their pre-draft workouts and was added to their 15-man summer league roster.
